Research Analyst – Oil & Gas

About the role

CRISIL Limited is seeking a dynamic Research Analyst to support its Oil & Gas commodities team. You will rapidly develop analytical and data‑management skills while delivering high‑quality insights on market trends, supply‑demand dynamics, and policy developments.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with complex research assignments using advanced secondary research techniques and data analytics.
• Conduct in‑depth studies on geographic segment trends, competitors, industry market trends, and technology topics.
• Maintain and enhance proprietary analytical models and databases such as supply‑demand and inventory models.
• Interpret modeling results for reasonableness and communicate findings to clients.
• Collaborate with regional teams to track the latest market developments.
• Support thought‑leadership initiatives and author insight papers on market and policy changes.
• Perform data structuring and analysis using Python and visualisation tools (Power BI, Spotfire, Tableau).

Required profile

• Strong data‑management capabilities and experience in oil, refining, petrochemical, upstream/downstream, agro‑chemical, power, renewable energy or related sectors.
• Conceptual understanding of upstream business dynamics.
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Power BI.
• Curiosity about global markets, geopolitics and the interconnected energy ecosystem.
• Excellent research and analytical skills with the ability to work on large datasets.
