Senior Back End Engineer

About the role

Peek is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own critical product areas, focusing on third‑party integrations, the Peek Pro App Store, and payments initiatives. The role emphasizes AI‑first development, using AI tools to accelerate coding while maintaining high quality.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services in Elixir, including API design and data modeling.
• Develop and manage integrations with third‑party systems and payment providers.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering peers to solve complex problems.
• Leverage AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc.) to increase productivity while critically reviewing generated code.
• Ensure service reliability, monitor performance, and debug production issues.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional development experience with Elixir and functional programming.
• Strong backend fundamentals: API design, SQL, microservices, and production debugging.
• Experience using AI coding tools in a production workflow and evaluating AI‑generated code for logic, security, and maintainability.
• Clear communicator who can flag specification gaps and collaborate constructively.
• Self‑motivated, ownership‑driven, and able to unblock oneself and the team.
