Senior Data Architect – Lead Data Initiatives

About the role

CI&T is expanding its data capabilities for a US‑based EdTech client. The Senior Data Architect will act as the technical reference for the data team, guiding architectural decisions and delivering end‑to‑end data products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the data team technically, providing hands‑on guidance on design, development and maintenance of data pipelines and lakehouse solutions.
• Define and evolve target data architecture covering ingestion, lakehouse design, modeling, governance and serving layers, ensuring security, performance and cost standards.
• Translate business and technical requirements into workable solutions, selecting appropriate frameworks, patterns and modeling approaches.
• Collaborate with client architects and business leaders to present architectural options, record decisions and maintain a shared foundation.
• Establish and enforce standards for data quality, access control, lineage and privacy, especially for regulated and sensitive data.
• Implement CI/CD and DataOps practices to maintain a stable development environment.
• Lead data assessments, knowledge transfer and develop proofs of concept to demonstrate value.

Required profile

• Advanced English (C1) for daily interaction with North American stakeholders.
• Proven experience in data architecture design and hands‑on leadership of multidisciplinary data teams.
• Strong data modeling skills (dimensional and relational) and advanced SQL expertise.
• Ability to work in a near‑shore delivery model with overlap of US Central business hours.

Required skills

• Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog) or equivalent AWS data services.
• Data pipeline orchestration tools such as dbt, Databricks Workflows or Apache Airflow.
• Experience with lakehouse architectures, data modeling and large‑scale data product deployment.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, MLOps and AI‑related workflows (nice to have).
