Senior Data Engineer (Talent Pool / Future Opportunities)

About the role

Monks Technology Services is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join its talent pool for future opportunities. The role focuses on building reliable data ingestion and transformation pipelines, implementing automated quality checks, and ensuring downstream systems receive trustworthy data.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable ingestion and transformation pipelines across diverse data sources.
• Develop automated validation and integrity checks to detect data issues early.
• Model and move data between relational and analytical stores to support downstream applications.
• Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot performance and data‑quality problems, and resolve root causes.
• Review both human‑generated and AI‑generated code for quality, correctness, and consistency.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or backend engineering.
• Strong ownership mindset with practical root‑cause problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent English communication, able to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, agile consulting environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python or TypeScript/Node.js.
• Advanced SQL and data‑modeling expertise for relational and analytical stores.
• Experience with AWS data services and building ETL pipelines.
• Familiarity with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code or Codex and reviewing AI‑generated code.
