Senior Database Administrator

About the role

The Senior Database Administrator will support NielsenIQ’s SQL Server estate hosted in Microsoft Azure, ensuring performance, integrity and high‑availability across multiple environments.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain performance, conduct incident investigations and manage configuration and administration of SQL Server databases.
• Implement backup, disaster recovery and high‑availability solutions, including failover/failback of AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
• Administer security, SQL Agent jobs, SSIS packages and enforce principle of least privilege.
• Provide code reviews, consultancy and support for database design and performance.
• Manage database source control policies and execute regular environment refreshes.
• Participate in small‑to‑medium projects and create/maintain documentation.

Required profile

• Significant production support experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Strong knowledge of clustering, virtualization and AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
• Proficiency in T‑SQL and PowerShell scripting.
• Experience with source control, versioning and CI/CD processes.
• Good communication skills in English and ability to work in a global cross‑functional team.
