Senior Faculty Fellow – BESS & Power Systems

About the role

The Meridian Institute seeks senior energy practitioners in Colombia to join its international faculty as Senior Faculty Fellows in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Power Systems. This part‑time, independent‑contract role allows professionals to stay active in industry while delivering high‑level executive and technical education.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver executive masterclasses, intensive workshops, and private programs for industry organizations.
• Develop applied project cases, simulations, and curriculum tools that reflect real‑world decision making.
• Contribute to applied research, thought leadership, and industry briefings across Colombia and Meridian’s global portfolio.

Required profile

• Significant professional achievement in the energy sector, with direct responsibility for complex BESS or power‑system projects.
• Deep knowledge of the Colombian electricity market, regulatory environment, and grid integration challenges.
• Ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly to senior decision‑makers.
• Professional fluency in Spanish; working proficiency in English is preferred.

Required skills

• BESS project development and execution (screening, feasibility, EPC, commissioning, operations).
• Power systems and grid integration (transmission, distribution, reliability, renewable integration).
• BESS engineering and performance (architecture, sizing, degradation, safety, controls).
• Colombian electricity market regulation and interconnection rules.
• BESS economics and commercial strategy (cost modelling, business models, risk allocation).
