Senior P&C Facultative Underwriter

About the role

Swiss Re is looking for an experienced Senior P&C Facultative Underwriter to drive profitable portfolio growth, create new business and strengthen client relationships across the Andean Region (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Chile). As a senior member of the facultative underwriting team, you will exercise broader underwriting authority, contribute to portfolio strategy and advise clients and brokers, working closely with regional underwriting centers and cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the Property & Casualty facultative underwriting strategy for the Andean Region and originate, structure, negotiate and underwrite profitable facultative transactions.
• Drive sustainable portfolio growth while maintaining underwriting discipline and profitability.
• Develop new business opportunities and build strategic relationships with brokers, cedents and industry stakeholders.
• Evaluate risk exposures, pricing, contract structures, capacity deployment and underwriting conditions, and review contract wordings with legal and wording specialists.
• Monitor portfolio performance, conduct market analysis and track regulatory developments.
• Support regional planning, forecasting and business development, promote compliance with underwriting standards and risk appetite, and mentor junior underwriters.
• Represent the company in client meetings, industry events and strategic market engagements.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in property re/insurance underwriting; casualty experience is a plus.
• Proven track record of originating and closing new business.
• Knowledge of Andean insurance and reinsurance markets and regulatory frameworks.
• Fluency in Spanish and English; additional languages appreciated.

Required skills

• Strong facultative underwriting experience in property (casualty a plus).
• Deep understanding of underwriting, pricing, contract structures and portfolio management.
• Ability to negotiate complex transactions and manage senior-level client relationships.
• Strong commercial and market development capabilities.
