Software Engineer - AI & Business Solutions

About the role

The Software Engineer I works on the design, development, testing, deployment and support of technology solutions that create business value across adidas. Under the guidance of senior engineers and technical leads, the role applies software engineering fundamentals, approved AI capabilities and automation tools to deliver secure, maintainable and scalable solutions, and turns clearly defined business needs into technical deliverables.

Key responsibilities

• Requirements and definition: help elicit, analyse, specify, validate and document requirements; take part in discovery sessions, backlog refinement and workshops; maintain user stories, acceptance criteria, specifications and traceability; support requirements baselines and change management.
• Design and development: design, code, verify, test, document and refactor moderately complex applications, components, integrations, automations and scripts; follow agreed standards, patterns and secure development practices; contribute component design and interface specifications.
• AI-enabled engineering: contribute to AI solutions using approved adidas platforms and tools, use specification-driven development (SPEC coding) and AI-assisted engineering, support prompts, agents, intelligent automations and workflows, and apply AI governance, security, privacy and compliance requirements.
• Testing, integration and release: define test conditions, run and record test cases, report results, produce builds, support integration, deployment and early-life support, and assist in troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Security and compliance: apply security controls and data protection requirements, perform basic risk assessments, communicate risks and respond to suspected incidents.
• Collaboration: work with business stakeholders, Product Managers, Product Owners, architects, data and security teams and external partners, and share progress, issues and risks with technical and non-technical audiences.

Required profile

• Four-year university degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Business Administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 3 years of IT experience, including at least 1 year in software engineering, application development or a relevant technical area.
• Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle, testing, integration, release, application support and Agile delivery.
• Ability to analyse problems, document requirements and deliver work with appropriate guidance.
• Strong collaboration, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, and fluent spoken and written English.

Required skills

• Experience with at least one programming language and software development tools or frameworks.
• Preferred: experience building applications, integrations, automations or digital products in an enterprise environment.
• Preferred: exposure to generative AI, copilots, agent development, intelligent automation, prompt engineering, SPEC coding, API, database, cloud, DevOps, CI/CD and test automation knowledge.
