Sr QA Engineer - Manual / Automation (Playwright)

About the role

Sonatafy Technology, a nearshore software development company based in Scottsdale, Arizona, is looking for a proactive, detail-oriented QA Engineer with extensive manual and automation experience using Playwright. You will join a collaborative engineering team focused on product quality through robust test automation and efficient QA practices. The role is split roughly 50% manual testing and 50% automation.

Key responsibilities

• Manual testing: review requirements, user stories and designs; write and maintain test plans, test cases and checklists in BrowserStack Test Management; perform functional, exploratory, regression, smoke and UAT-support testing on web and mobile; validate APIs manually (e.g. Postman); reproduce, document and triage defects with evidence.
• Work with Product and Development during sprint ceremonies to clarify acceptance criteria and sign off on releases.
• Automation with Playwright: design, build and maintain end-to-end and API tests in TypeScript, using Page Object Model, fixtures, reusable helpers and test data management.
• Convert stable, high-value manual cases into automated regression tests and fix flaky tests using Playwright Trace Viewer, logs and screenshots.
• Integrate test suites into CI/CD with parallel execution and run cross-browser tests on BrowserStack Automate; report coverage, pass rates and defect trends.
• Contribute to social media reporting initiatives and take part in code reviews.

Required profile

• 4+ years of hands-on experience with Playwright using TypeScript.
• Proven ability to scope and implement automation for new features.
• Computer Science fundamentals and solid experience in manual testing (test case design, exploratory, regression, smoke).
• Knowledge of QA methodologies such as boundary value analysis, equivalence partitioning and risk-based testing.
• Agile/Scrum experience and use of defect tracking tools such as Jira.
• Git, code reviews and pull requests; advanced written and spoken English.
