Transportation Planner Engineer (Mid to Senior Level)

About the role

WSP is seeking a mid‑ to senior‑level Transportation Planner Engineer to join its Municipal and Infrastructure team in Bogotá. The role focuses on the design of municipal and land‑development projects, including sites, subdivisions, municipal roads, stormwater systems and pipeline networks for projects located in Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on data collection, analysis, report preparation and graphic material development.
• Apply best practices and innovative solutions for planning, design and implementation of multimodal transportation, public transit and traffic projects.
• Prepare and review technical memoranda and reports to communicate results and recommendations.
• Attend meetings with clients, stakeholders and the public as required.
• Develop project coordination and management experience progressively.

Required profile

• Passion for transportation and multimodal solution design.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering or Transportation Planning.
• Professional engineering certification.
• 8‑10 years of experience in transportation engineering or planning.
• Strong technical writing and presentation skills, proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Experience preparing transportation planning proposals for private‑sector clients and public‑sector RFPs.

Required skills

• Preparation of Transportation/Traffic Impact Assessments (TIAs).
• Road safety analysis, including collision analysis and mitigation strategies.
• Planning and design of active transportation using the 5A/All Ages and Abilities approach.
• Conceptual and functional design of urban streets and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems.
• Use of transportation software such as Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, Sidra, VISSIM, VISTRO, Aimsun.
• Macroscopic trip demand modeling for long‑term network and travel‑pattern analysis.
