Transportation Planner Engineer – Mid to Senior Level

About the role

WSP is seeking a Mid‑ to Senior‑Level Civil Design Engineer to join its Municipal and Infrastructure team in Colombia. The role focuses on the planning and design of municipal and land‑development projects for initiatives located in Canada.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate on data collection, analysis, reporting and preparation of graphic materials for a variety of municipal and land‑development projects.
• Apply best practices and innovative solutions for multimodal transportation, public transit and traffic projects.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams of transportation engineers, planners, designers and landscape architects.
• Prepare and review technical memoranda and reports to communicate results and recommendations.
• Attend meetings with clients, stakeholders and the public as required.
• Develop experience in project coordination and management activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering or Transportation Planning.
• 8–10 years of experience in transportation engineering and/or planning, with engineering certification.
• Demonstrated technical writing and presentation skills.
• Experience preparing Transportation/Traffic Impact Assessments and road safety analyses.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office suite.
• Transportation software such as Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, Sidra, VISSIM, VISTRO, Aimsun.
• Macroscopic trip‑demand modeling.
• Preparation of Transportation/Traffic Impact Assessments (TIAs).
• Road safety and collision analysis.
• Active transportation planning (5A/All Ages and Abilities).
• Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system conceptual and functional design.
• Traffic signal timing adjustments and utility coordination.
