About the role

The Justice System Specialist serves as a legal advisor and change agent, working to improve the performance of Colombia's justice system. The role involves evaluating legal processes, advising key stakeholders, and leading initiatives that enhance case management and outcomes for victims.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate justice system procedures to ensure they align with organizational goals and legal standards.
• Guide internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders in developing legal strategies, delivering training, and ensuring compliance with protection programs.
• Analyze prosecutorial and judicial processes to identify bottlenecks, case‑management challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
• Implement strengthening initiatives focused on prosecutorial and judicial case management, inter‑agency coordination, and effective criminal prosecution.
• Support the institutional adoption and sustainability of improved practices through technical assistance, training, and strategic stakeholder engagement.
• Advise on statutory compliance and recommend enhancements to legal practices and partner collaboration.

Required profile

• Licensed legal practitioner with strong legal research and writing abilities.
• Excellent advocacy and public‑speaking skills, capable of representing cases in court and engaging diverse legal audiences.
• Proven ability to build strategic relationships with prosecutors, police, and court personnel.
• Experience delivering legal training internally and externally to promote system reform.
• Sound judgment, problem‑solving skills, and a commitment to ethical practice and statutory compliance.
• Willingness to travel domestically for fieldwork and occasional travel outside Colombia.
