Accounting Assistant

About the role

AJC Logistics, a logistics service provider covering truck brokerage, ocean and air freight, third party logistics, international freight forwarding and customs house brokerage, is looking for an Accounting Assistant for its Medellin office. The role processes daily accounting functions with accuracy, handles daily system integrations and payment processing, and supports the accounting team with routine but important tasks such as vendor setup, report preparation and daily and weekly vendor payments.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the AP department in setting up new vendors in the system
• Reconcile sub-system integrations periodically so that all transactions integrate without error
• Prepare daily ACHs, wires and check runs
• Reconcile some balance sheet accounts, understand their activity and take ownership of the assigned accounts
• Help the team with some weekly and monthly reporting

Required profile

• Associate degree or higher
• Two years or more of proven accounting experience, preferably in accounts receivable or accounts payable
• Fluent speaking, reading and writing in English
• Eager, positive attitude, strong work ethic and flexibility under tight deadlines
• Ability to handle several projects at once and to research within operational and financial systems
• Attention to detail, resourcefulness and reliability

• Basic accounting and reconciliation
• Advanced Excel skills are a plus
