Associate Director - Structural Engineering (Data Centers)

About the role

AECOM's Enterprise Capabilities is looking for an Associate Director - Structural Engineering (Data Centers) at senior level to join its office in Bogota, Colombia. The role focuses on project engineering management and technical leadership in structural engineering for mission-critical facilities, with expertise in the scale, resilience and speed demands of data center operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead structural system design for data centers, including concrete and steel systems, high-load demands, vibration criteria, redundancy and constructability
• Perform structural analysis and capacity planning for buildings and foundations, considering seismic, wind and vibration loads
• Specify structural materials and systems such as steel frames, reinforced concrete, foundation types and vibration mitigation solutions
• Supervise design documentation for tilt-up concrete panels, precast structures, steel framing and foundations
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, architectural and geotechnical teams to avoid clashes
• Ensure compliance with ASCE, ACI, AISC, IBC, Eurocodes and local regulations
• Review drawings, calculation reports and specifications, and communicate design plans to clients, architects, contractors and stakeholders
• Mentor and develop structural engineers

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a strong focus on structural engineering
• 8+ years of experience in structural engineering, focused on data center or mission-critical infrastructure
• Extensive knowledge of international structural codes and local regulations
• Experience with structural analysis and modeling tools such as SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, RAM, Tekla and Revit
• Experience reviewing contractor submittals, shop drawings and RFIs
• Advanced level of written and spoken English
• Preferred: Master's degree, data center facility experience and prior experience in structural design consultancy or large data center projects
