Data Architect / Senior Data Developer

About the role

A company based in Bogotá is looking for a Data Architect / Senior Data Developer to drive the architecture, schema design and core development of its data storage solutions for the healthcare sector. The role integrates data governance, documentation, security and code quality controls into the development process.

Key responsibilities

• Design data warehouse topology, dimensional models (Star Schema, Data Vault) and modern ETL/ELT pipeline architectures for healthcare analytics.
• Write advanced SQL, Python or dbt code to build scalable pipelines that ingest clinical (EHR) and financial (claims) datasets, with automated validation checks.
• Optimize database queries, indexing, partitioning and resources to support high-throughput processing and fast reporting.
• Embed data quality profiling, data lineage capture and metadata management into ingestion and transformation pipelines.
• Integrate data catalog, data dictionary and data observability tools into the warehouse and engineering environment.
• Implement security controls in the database layer, including dynamic masking, row-level security and RBAC to meet HIPAA standards.
• Review code, set coding guidelines and mentor junior developers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Software Engineering or a closely related technical field.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, data warehousing and relational/dimensional database modeling.
• Proven leadership as a Lead Developer or Data Architect setting technical standards and pipelines.
• Bi-lingual English and Spanish preferred.
• Deep familiarity with healthcare data systems (eClinicalWorks, Epic, HL7/FHIR, claims formats) and regulations such as HIPAA and HITRUST.

Required skills

• Advanced SQL, Star Schema and Snowflake Schema data modeling.
• GCP BigQuery and Azure Synapse.
• Data pipelines with Python, dbt, Spark or tools such as Informatica, ADF and Airflow.
• Deploying and integrating governance platforms with databases.
