Engineering Manager - Machine Learning Team (Remote)

About the role

BairesDev is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of ML engineers building scalable software products that intersect with machine learning and data-intensive systems. The role is fully remote, with hands-on involvement in code, system design and engineering standards, alongside focus on team growth and technical excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of ML engineers, hiring, coaching and developing talent
• Collaborate with Product, Data, ML and Design teams to define and deliver product roadmaps
• Write, review and ship production-grade code when needed
• Drive architectural decisions and ensure scalability, performance and reliability
• Oversee the technical execution of ML features with data scientists and ML engineers

Required profile

• 7+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years in a technical leadership or engineering management role
• Background building and scaling ML-powered features or platforms, or strong CS fundamentals (algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, databases)
• Advanced proficiency in English
• Nice to have: startup or scale-up experience, and familiarity with Agile, Lean or Shape Up

Required skills

• Programming in TypeScript, Python, Go or Java
• System design, APIs, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP) and software architecture
• Nice to have: MLOps practices and tools such as model deployment, feature stores and monitoring
