IBM iSeries (AS/400) Infrastructure Support L1 - 100% Remote

About the role

An IBM iSeries (AS/400) infrastructure support resource (L1) is needed to provide day-to-day operational monitoring and first-level technical support for enterprise IBM i environments. The role covers system health, jobs, backups, storage, network connectivity and operational alerts, following established procedures and escalating complex issues to L2 and L3 teams. It is a 100% remote position, with work location listed as Medellin or Bogota, Colombia.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor IBM i systems, LPARs, jobs, subsystems and resources, including CPU, memory, disk usage and alerts, and perform daily health checks
• Respond to alerts and incidents within defined SLAs, maintain operational logs and shift handover documentation
• Monitor production jobs and queues, handle stuck or failed jobs, and escalate Advanced Job Scheduler failures
• Monitor scheduled backups, verify their success, troubleshoot backup issues initially and escalate unresolved BRMS issues to L2/L3
• Perform basic user administration, password and access requests, and support SSL/digital certificate activities under L2/L3 guidance
• Monitor disk utilization, perform basic IFS checks, and support approved disk and storage administration
• Troubleshoot basic TCP/IP connectivity and network interface issues, escalating HMC, SAN, VIOS and complex network problems to L2/L3
• Monitor IBM Power systems, LPARs and HMC alerts, and VIOS availability and connectivity
• Create, update and resolve incidents, take part in shift handovers and daily meetings, and maintain knowledge articles and documentation

Required profile

• 2-4 years of experience
• Strong knowledge of IBM i operational activities and basic troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work in a 24x7 enterprise production support environment, including shift-based support and on-call duties
