Junior AI/ML Engineer - Remote (Colombia or Mexico)

About the role

A remote position for Junior AI/ML Engineers based in Colombia or Mexico, building AI agents that handle customer conversations by voice and chat. You will work on the retrieval, orchestration, APIs and integrations behind these systems, turning prototypes into production solutions, alongside full-stack engineers, CX designers and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop conversational agents that call tools and APIs and hand off to human agents when needed
• Build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines
• Connect AI agents with CRMs, ticketing systems, databases and messaging channels
• Work with API gateways, authentication, rate limits and versioning
• Help build voice agents using speech-to-text, LLMs and text-to-speech in English and Spanish
• Use evaluations, automated tests and guardrails to improve accuracy, reliability and safety
• Ship and maintain solutions through CI/CD, monitoring and documentation

Required profile

• 1-3 years of experience in software or ML engineering; internships, research or projects count
• Strong Python, Git, Docker and basic SQL
• Hands-on experience with an LLM API (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Azure OpenAI)
• Experience building AI agents, RAG pipelines, REST APIs and webhook/integration connections
• Professional written and spoken English and Spanish
• Based in Colombia or Mexico
