Legacy Modernization Engineer (Remote)

About the role

BairesDev, a technology consulting firm with more than 15 years of experience and a remote-first team of 4,000+ engineers, is hiring a Legacy Modernization Engineer. The role leads the transformation of outdated monolithic applications into agile, scalable microservices architectures, moving from legacy stacks to modern ecosystems while keeping business continuity, reducing technical debt and improving system resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Decompose complex monoliths into well-defined, loosely coupled microservices based on business domains.
• Design and implement robust RESTful APIs to connect legacy components with new services.
• Refactor brittle codebases in .NET or Java to improve maintainability, performance and security.
• Integrate modern CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment and speed up delivery.
• Define migration roadmaps that minimize business disruption and move toward cloud-ready platforms.

Required profile

• 4+ years of software engineering experience focused on legacy modernization and monolith decomposition.
• Proven expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs for microservices migrations.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD adoption and modernizing software delivery pipelines.
• Experience with incremental migration patterns such as the Strangler Fig pattern.
• Advanced proficiency in English.

Required skills

• .NET or Java ecosystems, including refactoring legacy code such as WebForms or VB.
• RESTful API design and implementation.
• CI/CD pipeline integration.
