Livelihoods and Social Safeguards Manager

About the role

PUR is looking for a Livelihoods and Social Safeguards Manager to lead the design, development and monitoring of social safeguards and livelihoods activities within carbon projects in agricultural landscapes. Based in Bogota, you will work across diverse geographies and cultures, shaping community engagement and benefit‑sharing mechanisms that align with the company’s insetting strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct social safeguard risk assessments for new and existing projects, identifying potential adverse impacts.
• Design and implement mitigation measures that comply with carbon standard requirements.
• Support the development of accessible, transparent grievance redress mechanisms for smallholder farmers.
• Develop and manage payment for ecosystem services (PES) and benefit‑sharing agreements.
• Monitor carbon permanence strategies and assess farm economic impacts.
• Collaborate with local cooperatives, NGOs, governments and corporate partners to ensure context‑relevant implementation.

Required profile

• Proven experience in social safeguards design, development and monitoring within carbon or environmental projects.
• Hands‑on expertise in livelihoods activities, PES schemes and benefit‑sharing mechanisms for smallholder contexts.
• Strong understanding of carbon standards and social safeguard compliance.
• Ability to work across multiple regions and cultural settings.
