Medical Records Assistant (Bilingual English/Spanish)

About the role

Bush & Bush Law Group, a personal injury law firm, is looking for a highly motivated bilingual (English/Spanish) Medical Assistant to join its remote team. The role covers reviewing and tracking client medical treatment, managing medical and billing records, and supporting case managers.

Key responsibilities

• Review and track the status of client medical treatments throughout each phase of the treatment lifecycle.
• Request and obtain medical and billing records and affidavits efficiently and on time, and verify their accuracy and completeness.
• Contact medical providers and their records/billing departments by phone, mostly directly, and use Chartswap for some requests; a friendly, patient phone manner is essential.
• Provide weekly status updates to the firm's systems on the progress of records and affidavits for each client.
• Research and manage subrogation liens, including Medicaid/Medicare and hospital liens.
• Manage a caseload of 30-40 active cases, growing as needed, and help confirm that clients have received the treatment referred by providers.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; associates or bachelor's degree preferred.
• Previous experience in a medical assistant, medical office or healthcare-related role preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently and take initiative.
• Excellent organization, time management, attention to detail and accuracy.

Required skills

• Knowledge of medical terminology, billing codes and medical records management preferred.
• Chartswap used for some record requests.
