Personal Injury Case Manager (Pre-Litigation) - Remote
HireHawk
Job description
About the role
HireHawk is recruiting a full-time remote contractor to manage a portfolio of California personal injury claims through pre-litigation. The case manager keeps clients informed about treatment progress and case status, follows up on insurance matters and documentation, and escalates routine issues to attorneys. Pay is USD $1,800-$2,000 per month, Monday to Friday, 8:00/9:00 AM to 5:00/6:00 PM PST.
Key responsibilities
- Keep the pre-litigation caseload moving toward resolution by prioritizing next steps, monitoring deadlines and closing outstanding follow-ups.
- Keep English- and Spanish-speaking clients informed about treatment progress and case status.
- Coordinate with medical providers so clients attend appointments and complete care such as MRIs, injections and follow-up treatment.
- Review medical records, track treatment progress and spot gaps or missing documentation that could delay case preparation.
- Get claim updates from insurance carriers, make sure policy searches are done and record coverage, policy limits and uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage.
- Coordinate treatment authorization within attorney-approved protocols and escalate legal or medical decisions to supervising attorneys.
- Maintain accurate, current case files in Maris Case, the firm's cloud-based case management platform.
- Collaborate with attorneys, assistants, medical records personnel and demand-preparation staff on lien tracking, demand workflows and settlement coordination.
Required profile
- Prior hands-on experience independently managing U.S. personal injury cases through pre-litigation, with minimal need for supervision or foundational training.
- Strong practical knowledge of California personal injury claims, including Proposition 213, liability and settlement procedures.
- Fluent Spanish and proficient English for direct client communication.
- Experience coordinating medical treatment, reviewing medical records and communicating with insurance carriers.
- Familiarity with lien tracking, demand preparation and pre-litigation settlement coordination, and good judgment on when to escalate to attorneys.
Required skills
- Organization, documentation and deadline management, including prioritizing competing case needs.
- Experience with cloud-based legal case management software and the ability to learn Maris Case.
- Nice to have: previous hands-on Maris Case experience, and experience preparing attorney-ready case summaries or demand-support packages.
