Project Manager - Alluvial Coltan / Niobium Operations (LATAM)

About the role

Gatesource HR is recruiting an experienced Project Manager with a background in niobium and tantalum to lead field-based extraction and processing operations in a remote alluvial environment. The role calls for strong operational leadership in river or alluvial mining, gravity-based mineral separation, and responsible management of sensitive supply chains, with expertise in remote site execution, water and environmental controls, and community-facing governance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the execution and day-to-day management of alluvial coltan mining operations targeting niobium and tantalum-bearing concentrates.
• Oversee field extraction activities in river-based or alluvial deposit environments.
• Manage mineral processing and concentration systems, including gravity separation circuits, magnetic separation equipment, electrostatic separation technologies and direct water management systems.
• Ensure safe, efficient operation in remote locations with limited logistics, infrastructure and supply support.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across mining, processing, maintenance, security and HSE functions.
• Maintain community interface practices, including local engagement, workforce integration and operational transparency.
• Ensure compliance with international standards for strategic and sensitive mineral supply chains, including traceability and responsible sourcing.
• Drive continuous improvement in recovery rates, concentrate quality and field operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Documented experience in alluvial or river-based mining, preferably with heavy mineral sands or coltan-bearing deposits.
• Proven ability to work in remote, infrastructure-limited environments with complex logistics.
• Demonstrated capability in large-scale water management and environmentally responsible site operations.
• Experience managing community-facing operational relationships and stakeholder engagement.
• Understanding of compliance requirements for strategic and sensitive minerals, including responsible sourcing and traceability.
