Senior AI Engineer – LLMs & Agentic AI

About the role

You will design, implement, and optimise production‑grade LLM and agentic AI applications that power conversational experiences and intelligent workflows. Working within a small, lightly‑managed team, you will make autonomous design decisions and defend them to engineering leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain MCP servers, tool definitions, and context‑management capabilities.
• Design and implement intent evaluation, classification, and routing workflows, orchestrating API and data‑source calls.
• Integrate Anthropic and OpenAI models into production environments and manage prompt versioning, fallback strategies, and performance optimisation.
• Develop evaluation frameworks to validate model quality and production performance.
• Write SQL against model inputs/outputs for monitoring and support the backend of the chat/MCP interface.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science or equivalent professional experience.
• Senior‑level experience building production AI applications with Python and LLM technologies.
• Hands‑on experience authoring MCP servers and deploying conversational or agentic AI solutions.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and problem‑solving abilities, with professional English proficiency.

Required skills

• Python programming and software‑engineering best practices.
• SQL and cloud data‑warehouse querying.
• Integration of hosted LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI) and prompt engineering.
• Tool calling, multi‑step orchestration, and context management.
• Evaluation methodology design and implementation.
• Experience with vector databases and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG).
• Familiarity with Hugging Face, GPU acceleration, and MLOps CI/CD pipelines.
