Senior Manager, Engineering (FBR Americas)

About the role

Amadeus is hiring a Senior Manager, Engineering for its AirOps business unit, which covers airline and airport operations. As Senior Manager Engineering – FBR Americas, you will lead more than 50 software engineers, including SRE/DevOps engineers and senior individual contributors, mainly in Bogota, delivering complex, safety-critical systems for major Americas and global customers. The department works across several Scrum teams, and you will personally lead large-scale programs for major Latam and North American airlines and other strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead team engagement, performance, career paths and succession for managers and senior contributors, and coach Engineering Managers and teams in Lean-Agile and SAFe practices.
• Support the Train Product Manager, Release Train Engineer and System Architects to deliver on time, with quality, and to use customer feedback to improve outcomes.
• Handle escalations and decisions on delivery and operational issues, and promote innovation in Flight, Baggage and Ramp domains.
• Translate strategy with Product and Solution Management, and promote departmental achievements internally and externally.
• Ensure customer satisfaction and operational stability, and drive front-end customer engagements and escalations for the Americas region.
• Maintain excellent support for mission-critical systems and ensure stability, reliability and security of safety-sensitive operations.

Required profile

• Strong experience leading large software engineering organizations (30+ people, multi-team scale).
• Proven ability to lead delivery of mission-critical, safety-sensitive systems.
• Track record delivering complex programs across multiple products, sites and stakeholders.
• Ability to communicate and influence at senior leadership and customer executive levels.
• Excellent English communication skills.

Required skills

• Solid understanding of Lean-Agile practices (SAFe preferred).
• Understanding of how to design, build and operate large-scale systems running 24/7, 365 days a year.
