Senior Software Engineer - Rust - Core Services

About the role

Join the Core Engineering team building Kraken's foundational infrastructure. You will design and implement high‑performance Rust services that power global trading and internal platforms, with a focus on correctness, security, and long‑term maintainability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust Rust services and foundational libraries for Kraken's core infrastructure.
• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code optimized for scale, observability, and operational resilience.
• Collaborate on large‑scale distributed system architecture, creating low‑latency, fault‑tolerant services.
• Debug complex issues across the stack, including OS, network, and application layers.

Required profile

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proven experience building and scaling shared systems or internal platforms.
• Security‑first mindset when designing systems.
• Ability to take end‑to‑end ownership of services and libraries.

Required skills

• Rust (network services, asynchronous programming).
• Distributed systems concepts and technologies (RPC, Kafka, event‑driven architecture).
• Debugging across operating systems, networking, and application layers.
