Software Engineer (Lua) – Remote

About the role

BairesDev is seeking a seasoned Software Engineer with deep expertise in Lua to join its remote team. You will work on performance‑critical gateway infrastructure that handles authentication, routing, and session management at massive scale, where every millisecond counts.

Key responsibilities

• Write and maintain high‑performance Lua code running in the hot path of gateway services.
• Ensure reliability and low latency of authentication and routing systems under heavy load.
• Debug and resolve latency, failover, and other issues in distributed environments.
• Contribute to observability, monitoring, and safe staged‑rollout practices across the infrastructure.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Lua.
• Hands‑on experience with Redis, including connection pooling, timeouts, failover, and latency debugging.
• Familiarity with JWT/OIDC, gateway routing, and tenant‑aware request handling.
• Knowledge of p99 performance optimization and a safety‑first mindset for hot‑path code.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
