Sr. Editorial Designer - Print Magazine (Remote, LATAM)

About the role

A remote, independent contractor opportunity for an Editorial Designer to own the design and production of PIM Magazine, the publication of the PIM (Personal Injury Mastermind) podcast brand. The role works closely with a US-based team and requires strong English and availability during US Central or Eastern Time hours. It is more than layout work: you take an editorial plan, stories, photos and assets to a polished, intentional magazine.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design of the magazine from concept through final production, developing the visual direction for each issue with the Creative Manager.
• Create covers, feature stories, departments, opening spreads, tables of contents and other components, using typography, photography, illustration, graphics and layout to build visual hierarchy.
• Maintain consistency while evolving the visual language, and identify ways to make stories more visually engaging.
• Build and maintain organized Adobe InDesign files, templates, grids, master pages and style systems; manage revisions and prepare print-ready files (bleeds, color profiles, image resolution, preflight).
• Package and maintain source files and assets, and own design deadlines.
• Collaborate with writers, editors, marketers and photographers, present design concepts, incorporate feedback and advocate for good design.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional graphic design experience, with significant editorial or publication design experience.
• Portfolio of magazine, editorial, book, report or long-form publication work (3-5 examples requested).
• Experience taking publications from early concept through final print production.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple rounds of feedback toward firm deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal English; contractors must reside in an eligible country and handle their own taxes and insurance.

Required skills

• Advanced Adobe InDesign.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Typography, composition, hierarchy and layout.
• Understanding of print-production requirements and press-ready file preparation.

What we offer

• Monthly retainer of $3,200 - $4,000 USD, invoiced by the contractor.
