About the role
The Associate Director, MA Portfolio & Programme Management will act as the operational lead for the medical strategy of assigned therapeutic area programs. This senior position bridges Medical Directors, Scientific Communications, Study Management, Finance and other cross‑functional partners to ensure clear governance, accountability and strategic alignment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead planning and operational oversight of therapeutic‑area medical budgets, consolidating scientific communications and study execution reports into category‑level overviews.
- Partner with Global and International Medical Affairs Directors to coordinate operational planning, monitoring and reporting of TA‑owned activities.
- Translate complex activity plans and portfolio data into actionable insights for program forums and senior leadership.
- Drive operational excellence by consolidating data, managing cross‑functional meetings, monitoring performance and safeguarding compliance.
- Serve as the single point of contact for disease‑area and cross‑functional partners, facilitating effective communication.
- Organise and lead Program Medical Affairs Team meetings, set agendas, record minutes and follow up on actions.
- Oversee program objectives, deliverables, risk mitigation and portfolio reporting for assigned disease areas.
Required profile
- Advanced degree in life sciences or healthcare (PharmD or PhD preferred).
- Minimum 8 years of operational experience in planning, executing and reporting global or international pharmaceutical programs.
- Proven ability to work independently in a complex matrix environment, including remote teams.
- Strong program‑management track record with on‑time delivery of high‑quality results.
- Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation abilities.
Required skills
- In‑depth knowledge of medical affairs activities, Good Clinical Practice and global drug development processes.
- Experience in budget planning, resource allocation and operational issue management within medical affairs or clinical research.
