Mechanical Designer for Food & Beverage Industry

About the role

GEA is seeking a Mechanical Designer to create, optimise and upgrade industrial equipment for the food and beverage sector. The role focuses on delivering hygienic, high‑efficiency mechanical solutions that meet international food safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design, edit and manage plant layouts and process diagrams (P&IDs).
• Review detailed engineering of tanks, pressure vessels and other equipment.
• Create and verify construction and isometric diagrams, ensuring compliance with hygienic design standards.
• Develop 2D and 3D projects across disciplines (Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical) using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D and Inventor.
• Generate bills of materials, trace pipeline routes and produce mechanical assembly isometrics.
• Manage contractors, support material procurement and follow‑up on deliveries.
• Travel up to 30% domestically and internationally; a valid US visa is desirable.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in 3D design and 5+ years in industrial project design, including steam and condensate networks, skids and piping diagrams.
• Experience with vessel simulation software (Compress) and mechanical manufacturing tracking.

Required skills

• AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD Inventor (advanced 3D modelling).
• Design of plant layouts, P&IDs and hygienic equipment (pasteurizers, valve skids, warm‑up skids).
• Bill of materials generation and isometric drawing creation.
• Pipeline routing and mechanical assembly modelling.
• Knowledge of engineering calculation and design tools.
