Platform Observability Engineer

About the role

StoneX, a Fortune-100, Nasdaq-listed global market maker, is hiring a Platform Observability Engineer in Sao Paulo (Brazil) or Bogota (Colombia). The engineer designs, builds and operates the platforms and tooling that give end-to-end visibility into the company's systems. In the near term the focus is on the OpenSearch-based logging and search platform running on Kubernetes; over time the scope widens to the observability stack centred on Datadog or a similar platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and operate observability platforms, including OpenSearch clusters in production (scaling, upgrades, index lifecycle management) and Datadog or a similar platform
• Adopt OpenTelemetry instrumentation and drive telemetry by default across services
• Build and manage data pipelines that extract, transform and route telemetry using tools such as Cribl, Vector, Fluent Bit or OpenTelemetry Collector, with filtering, enrichment, redaction and normalization
• Optimize data lifecycle management, including tiered storage, retention policies and archive strategies
• Build alerts, dashboards, runbooks and analytics that reduce noise and improve MTTR
• Implement observability infrastructure as code with Terraform, and integrate observability into CI/CD workflows
• Partner with security, compliance and architecture on governance, access controls and data policies
• Create customer-facing and service-level documentation, train colleagues, and take part in on-call rotations and incident response

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in observability, SRE, platform or infrastructure roles
• Hands-on experience with Datadog or a similar platform, including metrics, logs, APM, tracing, RUM, synthetics, dashboards and alerting
• Experience with index design, query tuning and index lifecycle policies in Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, preferably on Kubernetes
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
