Research Associate – Global Covenants

About the role

Octus is seeking a Research Associate to join its Global Covenants team in Bogotá. Working under senior lawyers, you will support research, drafting, and analysis of US leveraged finance and high‑yield markets, while leveraging AI tools to enhance legal intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day research, drafting, and analysis support to senior lawyers.
• Create and update legal intelligence on leveraged loans, private credit, high‑yield bonds, liability management exercises and related topics.
• Extract data and perform trend analysis using Octus’ proprietary databases, AI, Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
• Assist sales and marketing efforts, including organizing webinars, events and training.
• Develop AI‑driven workflows to improve legal research efficiency.

Required profile

• Law degree from a licensed Colombian university or an LL.M/J.D. from a U.S. university with at least four years post‑qualification experience, preferably at an international law firm or financial institution.
• Fluent English (written and spoken) and strong analytical and writing abilities.
• Interest in finance, capital markets and legal research, with excellent organizational skills.

Required skills

• Intermediate Excel and PowerPoint.
• Proficiency with AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude and ability to evaluate AI‑generated output.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
