Senior Data Engineer

About the role

EPAM is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design, development, and maintenance of data and ML pipelines on the Domino Data Lab platform. The role focuses on building reliable data workflows, managing compute infrastructure, and supporting data scientists in delivering scalable machine‑learning solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain robust data pipelines that feed analytical and machine‑learning workloads.
• Manage the full lifecycle of data workflows, from ingestion through transformation to delivery.
• Operate and optimise compute resources on Kubernetes clusters (EKS, AKS, GKE) to ensure efficient, secure platform performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline performance issues and data‑quality problems.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to provide required tooling and infrastructure.
• Define and promote best practices for platform usage, pipeline design and automation.
• Introduce automated testing and CI/CD processes to increase reliability and reduce manual effort.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of relevant data‑engineering experience.
• Deep hands‑on expertise with the Domino Data Lab platform (Data Sources, Datasets, Projects, Jobs, Flows).
• Strong Python programming skills and solid SQL knowledge for data extraction and transformation.
• Experience with R or Bash for scripting and automation.
• Proven ability to design, build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Practical experience with Kubernetes and managed services such as EKS, AKS or GKE.
• Knowledge of containerisation using Docker and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
• Familiarity with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP).
