Associate Director - Architecture (Data Centers)

About the role

AECOM is seeking an Associate Director to lead data‑center architecture in its Bogotá office. The role combines strategic design leadership with hands‑on delivery of hyperscale, colocation and edge data‑center projects.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the specialist for data‑center design, driving innovation in energy efficiency, modular design, renewable integration and sustainability.
• Lead development of design methodologies and best practices aligned with AECOM’s Sustainable Legacies strategy.
• Manage architectural programs from concept through commissioning, ensuring technical deliverables meet client, schedule and budget requirements.
• Provide leadership to multidisciplinary teams of architects, MEP, structural engineers and commissioning agents.
• Mentor junior staff on data‑center design principles, digital delivery workflows and technical standards.
• Support business development by contributing technical insights, design narratives and strategic recommendations for new opportunities.

Required profile

• Professional degree in Architecture.
• Minimum 8 years of experience dedicated to large‑scale data‑center design and delivery.
• Proven ability to lead global, multidisciplinary teams on high‑scale projects.
• Deep knowledge of data‑center codes and standards (IBC, NFPA 75 & 76, ASHRAE Thermal Guidelines, Uptime Tier Topology, IEC/IEEE redundancy classifications).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Suite and BIM tools.
• Expertise in applying IBC, NFPA 75, NFPA 76, ASHRAE Thermal Guidelines, Uptime Tier Topology, IEC and IEEE redundancy classifications.
