Associate Director – Transmission & Distribution

About the role

As an Associate Director for Transmission & Distribution, you will lead the technical delivery of high‑voltage overhead line projects (132 kV to 765 kV) across their full lifecycle, from concept through construction, for AECOM’s Bogota office.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and execute HV transmission line projects, preparing cost estimates, budgets and resource plans.
• Provide technical leadership on design packages, including alignment, sag‑tension analysis, tower/pole loading, and foundation design.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary teams (civil, structural, electrical, geotechnical) to produce integrated design deliverables.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement through lessons learned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with at least 8 years of HV overhead line experience.
• Chartered or Professional Engineer status preferred and fluency in English (oral and written).
• Proven track record delivering new builds, reconductoring, uprating and asset renewal projects.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PLS‑CADD, PLS‑TOWER / PLS‑POLE, AutoCAD, MicroStation.
• Experience using TEKLA Structures, MathCAD, SAP2000 / STAAD.Pro, SpaceGASS, LPile / AllPile / BHPile, CDEGS / HIFREQ.
• Strong knowledge of HV standards (e.g., EN 50341, NG TS 2.04) and sag‑tension analysis.
