Associate Director – Electrical Engineering for Data Centers

About the role

Join AECOM’s Enterprise Capabilities team in Bogota as an Associate Director leading electrical engineering for data center projects. You will design reliable, scalable power systems that support mission‑critical IT operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for data centers, including power distribution, UPS, generators, lighting and grounding.
• Perform power load calculations, capacity planning and redundancy design to ensure scalability and fault‑tolerance.
• Select and specify transformers, switchgear, UPS units, circuit breakers and distribution panels meeting safety and performance standards.
• Integrate electrical designs with mechanical and HVAC systems and ensure compliance with standards such as Uptime Institute, TIA‑942, IEEE, IEC, NFPA and NEC.
• Lead testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of installed systems and produce detailed design documentation.

Required profile

• 8+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on data center infrastructure and power systems.
• Proven expertise in load calculations, equipment selection, redundancy planning and knowledge of IBC, IFC, NEC, IEEE, ASHRAE 90.1 and local codes.
• Hands‑on experience with electrical design and simulation tools and ability to review contractor submittals.
• Advanced written and spoken English; Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (Master’s preferred).
