Associate Director – Fire Engineering for Data Centers

About the role
Join AECOM’s Enterprise Capabilities team in Bogota as an Associate Director leading fire engineering for mission‑critical data centers. You will design and deliver fire suppression solutions that protect critical infrastructure while ensuring compliance with global standards.
Key responsibilities
- Lead fire suppression design for data centers, including clean‑agent, double‑interlock preaction, water mist, wet/dry systems, fire pumps, tanks, hydrants and fire‑water distribution.
- Develop basis‑of‑design documents, hydraulic calculations, network models, equipment sizing and detailed drawings/specifications.
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, FM Global, local building codes and interpret client standards and AHJ requirements.
- Define protection strategies for white space, electrical rooms, battery/UPS, generators, fuel systems and other special‑hazard areas.
- Oversee QA/QC reviews, interdisciplinary coordination and BIM model integration.
- Manage RFIs, submittals and technical clarifications during procurement and construction phases.
- Lead client engagements, capture requirements, deliver technical presentations and manage design reviews.
- Standardize templates, details, calculation methods and design guides; drive continuous improvement.
- Plan and manage scope, schedule and budgets; support proposals and resourcing for multi‑site programs.
- Mentor and develop team members while enforcing safety, quality and information‑management best practices.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil, fire‑protection or related engineering discipline.
- 8+ years of fire‑suppression design experience, including 5+ years on mission‑critical/data‑center projects.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA, FM Global standards and local code application.
- Proficiency with Revit MEP, AutoCAD and hydraulic calculation tools.
- Proven team leadership and project delivery experience (scope, schedule, budget, risk).
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English (written and spoken).
