Associate Director – Plumbing Engineering (Data Centers)

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced bilingual Associate Director to lead plumbing engineering for mission‑critical data centers in Bogota. The role focuses on designing fire‑protected plumbing systems and ensuring reliability, redundancy, and maintainability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design of domestic cold/hot water, sanitary, vent, stormwater, roof drainage, and specialty/process systems.
• Produce basis‑of‑design documents, load calculations, pump/tank sizing, water‑hammer control, equipment selection, specifications, P&IDs and coordinated Revit models.
• Apply IPC/UPC or client‑specified plumbing codes, integrate cross‑discipline constraints, and develop redundancy strategies.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical and fire disciplines to eliminate clashes and ensure maintainable layouts.
• Lead QA/QC, design reviews, manage RFIs, submittals and technical clarifications during procurement and construction.
• Support commissioning, start‑up, flushing/disinfection, testing and turnover documentation, and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Public Health, Sanitary or related engineering discipline.
• 8+ years of plumbing/process utility design experience, including 5+ years on data‑center projects.
• Strong command of IPC/UPC (or equivalent) and local code application.
• Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English (written and spoken).
• Demonstrated leadership in design delivery, multidisciplinary coordination and client‑facing communication.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Revit MEP.
• Experience using hydraulic modeling tools.
• Knowledge of BIM coordination tools such as Navisworks and BIM 360/ACC.
• Expertise in applying plumbing codes (IPC/UPC) and water‑quality standards.
