About the role
As the Collections Manager at 8am, you will own the full collections and accounts receivable lifecycle, driving daily recovery and shaping long‑term strategy. You will lead a team of analysts and specialists, keep aging low, and integrate AI tools to automate case handling and improve recovery speed.
Key responsibilities
- Own end‑to‑end collections and accounts receivable processes, including daily recovery, strategy, and reporting.
- Lead, mentor and set goals for a team of collections analysts and specialists, tracking KPIs such as aging, recovery rates and service levels.
- Run core operations like TSYS balance holds, ACH return reporting, monthly write‑offs and journal entries.
- Analyze delinquency trends to improve cash‑flow forecasting and operational efficiency.
- Serve as escalation point for difficult recoveries and collaborate with Disputes and Underwriting on shared risk.
- Document processes and ensure compliance with SOC 1, SOX and other financial controls.
- Introduce AI tools to automate correspondence, triage cases and surface delinquency patterns.
- Partner across Finance, Risk, Sales, Operations and Engineering, representing collections in cross‑functional risk reviews.
Required profile
- 5+ years of experience in collections, accounts receivable or related fintech/accounting roles, managing high‑volume receivables.
- Proven experience leading or mentoring a team.
- Strong understanding of collections processes, billing platforms and financial compliance standards (SOC 1, SOX a plus).
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Clear communicator able to manage relationships across multiple functions.
Required skills
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets.
- Experience with CRM/ERP systems such as Salesforce and Workday.
- Hands‑on experience using AI tools to automate or optimize workflows.
- Familiarity with processor platforms like TSYS or Adyen (bonus).
