Java Developer

About the role

EPAM is seeking a Java Developer to join its global engineering team. You will work on backend services, REST APIs and micro‑services, collaborating with multi‑national teams to deliver innovative solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Build, engineer, and maintain Java backend services and improve REST APIs for mobile applications.
• Handle MySQL tasks including data modeling, query writing, and performance tuning.
• Contribute to the design and evolution of scalable micro‑services architecture.
• Write secure, well‑tested code and resolve bugs, performance issues, and live‑environment incidents.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, estimations and solution design.
• Collaborate with mobile engineers, product stakeholders, QA and other backend developers to deliver complete features.
• Support automated testing, monitoring, logging and overall application reliability.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of hands‑on Java development experience.
• Strong understanding of object‑oriented programming and REST API design.
• Experience with micro‑services and distributed systems.
• Proficiency in MySQL, SQL syntax, data modeling and query optimization.
• Familiarity with unit and integration testing frameworks.
• Good analytical and problem‑solving skills with ownership of tasks.
• Effective communication in English (B2 level or higher) and ability to work in a distributed team.
