Principal Engineer - Structural Engineering

About the role

AECOM Enterprise Capabilities is seeking a Principal Engineer with demonstrated expertise in the structural design of transportation infrastructure facilities, including airports, railway systems, metro and BRT stations, maintenance workshops, operational buildings and electrical substations, to join its Bogota office.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the structural design of transportation infrastructure facilities such as airports, railway systems, metro and BRT stations, maintenance workshops, operational buildings and electrical substations.
• Develop structural analysis models, perform engineering calculations, prepare technical reports and design documentation for reinforced concrete and steel systems.
• Conduct technical quality reviews, serve as Lead Verifier, and ensure project technical goals, milestones and budgets are met.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, communicate with clients, and support proposals, client meetings and technical presentations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with at least 6 years of relevant structural engineering experience.
• Proven experience designing concrete and steel structures for transportation facilities, following international codes.
• Advanced technical English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to work independently, set priorities and deliver high‑quality technical services.

Required skills

• Structural analysis software: SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, MIDAS Civil, CSiBridge, STAAD.Pro, IdeaStatica, RAM Connection.
• Design tools: AutoCAD, BIM platforms.
• Knowledge of international design codes: ACI, AISC, ASCE, IBC, AREMA, AASHTO, Eurocodes, CSA.
