Principal Mechanical Engineer – Data Centers

About the role

AECOM is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to lead mechanical engineering design for data center projects in Bogota, focusing on HVAC systems, chilled water plants, and control systems.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and calculate cooling and heating thermal loads using software such as HAP, Tracer 3d, EESV, and CYPE.
• Design chilled water, variable refrigerant, centralized, and precision HVAC systems, including equipment selection and component sizing.
• Prepare specifications, drawings, calculation reports, and technical reports in English.
• Generate plant drawings, system architecture, schematics, control single‑line diagrams, P&IDs, and installation details for HVAC and mechanical ventilation systems.
• Model systems in Revit, review drawing quality, and produce pressure‑drop reports and equipment tables.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with at least 6 years of related experience.
• Proficiency with calculation software (HAP, Tracer 3d, EESV, CYPE) and design of air‑conditioning and mechanical ventilation systems.
• Basic experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of ASHRAE and SMACNA standards and local/international regulations.
• Intermediate written and spoken English.
