Real Estate Accountant – Full‑Cycle Accounting (Contract)

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a detail‑oriented accountant with real‑estate experience to join our growing back‑office team. You will work remotely as an independent contractor, providing high‑quality accounting support to multiple clients and helping them maintain accurate financial records.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting for several clients, including AP/AR, bank and credit‑card reconciliations, and month‑end close.
• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements, management reports, budgets, and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and relevant regulations, addressing discrepancies proactively.
• Perform job costing, project accounting, and budget‑to‑actual analysis as required.
• Support tax compliance by preparing documentation, coordinating with external tax advisors, and assisting with audit requests.
• Build strong relationships with client stakeholders and internal teams, offering insights to improve financial operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls to boost accuracy and scalability.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, specifically in the real‑estate sector.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.
• Fluent English (B2+), comfortable communicating with high‑profile clients.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, growth‑focused environment.
• Availability 9 AM–5 PM EST, Monday to Friday.
