Senior Power Cable Technician – Permanent Expat Position in Saudi Arabia

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Power Cable Technician to join our Power Operations Organization in Saudi Arabia. The role is a permanent full-time expatriate position with a comprehensive relocation package. You will be responsible for installing, testing, maintaining and commissioning underground power cables ranging from 2.4 kV to 115 kV.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and perform high-potential cable testing up to 230 kV and megger tests to identify faulted phases.
• Install, repair and maintain HV transmission and distribution cables (solid dielectric, PILCA, LPOF, submarine) and conduct required testing to meet standards.
• Locate cable or equipment faults using diagnostic tests, measurements and analysis, and execute the necessary repairs or modifications.
• Maintain technical records, cable routes, IDs, specifications, test results and past failures.
• Obtain clearances, perform switching, receive work permits and restore equipment to service.
• Supervise and carry out preventive maintenance on high-voltage cable terminations, substation switchgear and transformers.
• Perform splices, terminations, taps, potheads, transitions and elbows according to detailed drawings and manufacturer instructions.
• Train junior technicians in diagnostics, troubleshooting and maintenance procedures.

Required profile

• 8-10 years of hands-on technical experience with high-voltage power cables.
• Fluent English (written and spoken).
• Willingness to relocate permanently to Saudi Arabia.
• Ability to supervise junior personnel and manage work permits.

Required skills

• High-voltage cable testing (up to 230 kV) and megger testing.
• Fault location, cable tracing and diagnostic testing.
• Installation, repair and maintenance of solid dielectric, PILCA, LPOF and submarine cables.
• Splicing, terminations, taps, potheads, transitions and elbows.
• Use of testing equipment: Insulation resistance, Partial discharge, Very Low Frequency, Tan delta, Power factor, Time‑Domain Reflectometer, Hi‑Potential AC/DC.
• Preventive maintenance of cable terminations and substation equipment.
